A St. Patty's Day Baby

Finnian John Davis

St. Patrick's Day has always been a favorite holiday of mine as I am from a large Irish family. I never knew it would be one of the most important and special days that Ryan and I would share. On March 17th, 2011 at 4:46 pm, our sweet baby boy, Finnian John Davis, was born. He weighed 8 pounds and measured 20.5 inches in length. We had joked throughout the last trimester of the pregnancy that he would hold off for the Irish holiday, so I'm not sure why I was so shocked when he actually did.

We had two name choices for our baby boy: Finnian and Patrick. However, Ryan and I both agreed that if our baby was born on St. Patrick's Day, we would not use the name Patrick. So when my water broke at 12:30 am on St. Patty's Day, we knew his name would be Finnian. His middle name is in honor of my grandpa, John Lawson and Ryan's papa, John White, two very special men that Ryan and I looked up to and loved very much!

Finn, we are over the moon with happiness to be your mommy and daddy! We are so thankful to hold you in our arms and our hearts are filled with more love than we ever thought possible.

Five Days to Go...

It's hard to believe that I will be holding my little man any day now. Ryan and I are so excited and anxiously await his arrival. I thought for sure he would come early but after my doctor's appointment today, I'm beginning to think he may be on the later side. Not much progress in the last two weeks except that he has dropped a little lower each time. I will have another appointment next Thursday (2 days after due date) and if he has not arrived by then, we will schedule induction for the following week. However, I'm hoping that he comes all on his own.

Until then, I'm enjoying my time with grandma and we are keeping busy. I'm one lucky girl to have a grandma who is taking care of the cooking and cleaning while I relax at night. I'm happy to have her here with us before the little guy arrives.

Last Friday, my wonderful little preschoolers had a baby shower for baby Davis and I. The kids were so excited and I appreciate everything Ms. Jessica and all the parents did to put this together. The cake was very yummy and the gift card to Target was extremely generous. Ryan and I are so thankful for everything!

Our wonderful friends recently took us out for a delicious dinner at one of my favorite restaurants in Wilmington, Sweet and Savory. At the restaurant, Ryan and I were showered with the cutest baby gifts, a "savory" dinner and an amazingly delicious cake. Thank you Jamie, Ross, baby Lucas, Jenny, Joel and Lauren for a wonderful evening. We always enjoy your company and appreciate the adorable gifts. We are so happy to have friends like you!
